Members of the independent Health Technicians’ Union which represents professional and technical workers in the health service such as radiographers and laboratory technicians organised a protest outside the Ministry of Health on 26 April. The union is leading a campaign for the Health Technology Institute to be upgraded to a College. Delegations of union members from across Egypt took part in the protest.

Doctors in Alexandria staged a demonstration and took part in a strike the same day, while other doctors’ organisations announced that they will be call on their supporters to join a national strike by doctors on 1 May.
