As Sudan’s people continue to resist war, repression, and the deepening humanitarian crisis, this event brings together activists, researchers, and trade unionists to explore the roots of Sudan’s revolutionary struggle and the lessons it offers for movements everywhere fighting for justice and liberation.
JOIN US for the launch of “Sudan’s Revolutionary and Popular Movements: A Research Report”, a pamphlet produced by MENA Solidarity. This seminar traces the story of Sudan’s 2018 revolution, the rise of the counter-revolutionary war, and the extraordinary resilience of popular resistance. From the strikes and civil disobedience that challenged military rule to the grassroots networks of neighbourhood resistance and women’s organising, this publication highlights the courage, creativity, and determination of Sudan’s people in their ongoing struggle for freedom, peace, and justice.
The discussion will also examine how imperialism and regional powers have shaped the conflict—and how international solidarity can play a vital role in supporting Sudan’s revolutionaries and linking their struggles with the wider fights against oppression, racism, and exploitation in the UK and beyond.
Speakers include:
- Khalid Sidahmed, Vice Chair, Portsmouth Trades Council; Chair, LESE TUC International Affairs Committee; member of MENA Solidarity Editorial Board
- Rania Obead, Sudanese activist; member of the Sudanese Women’s Union; member of MENA Solidarity Editorial Board
