Teachers in Egypt are coninuing to struggle for decent salaries and permanent contracts

Teachers who started their strike on Sunday, are contining their struggle to see the demands of last year’s strike met, proper funding for public education in Egypt and an end to privatisation. Teachers have set up tents outside the Council of Ministers in Cairo and one of them Dr Mohamed Zahran is on hunger strike. He has been threatened with prosecution. Meanwhile police forced protestors to take down their tents but reports indicate that they have since re-established their camp outside the government building.
