Three things to do this week to build solidarity

1. Ask one of the delegation of British trade unionists who went to Egyptrecently to come to your union branch/campaign. To book a speaker please email menasolidarity@gmail.com  Members of the RMT, PCS, NUJ, UCU, NUT and CWU went on the delegation and met the activists and leaders of the independent unions who are at the forefront of the struggle. They can speak about the inspiring events, the challenges that remain, and what we can learn for our own struggles from Egypt.

2. Defend the right to strike in Egypt. The government has passed a brutal anti-strike law, designed to strangle the emerging power of organised workers. Send protests to prime minister Essam Sharaf at pm@cabinet.gov.eg  Pass a motion through your union branch and ask your regional and national union to protest too.

3. Get you union branch to affiliate to MENA. You will be kept informed of all the meetings and developments in the region and of how you can show solidarity at key moments. See above for full details.
