MENA Solidarity AGM 2026: Building International Solidarity Against War, Genocide, Repression and Imperialism

Join us online on Monday 12 October 2026 at 7:30pm for the MENA Solidarity Annual General Meeting.

At a time of escalating wars, genocide, repression and imperialist intervention, international solidarity is more important than ever. Workers, trade unions and grassroots movements across the Middle East and North Africa continue to confront war, occupation, authoritarianism, racism and exploitation. Their struggles are connected to those taking place here in Britain and internationally.

The Middle East & North Africa Solidarity Network (MENA Solidarity) invites trade unionists, affiliated organisations, campaigners and supporters to join our Annual General Meeting on Monday 12 October 2026 at 7:30pm via Zoom.

The AGM will bring together activists and organisations committed to building solidarity across borders, sharing experiences and strengthening collective action. It will be an opportunity to hear international updates, reflect on our work over the past year and discuss how we can develop our campaigns and solidarity work in the year ahead.

International updates: Lebanon, Sudan and France

The meeting will feature contributions from three speakers:

  • Lebanon: Guy Smallman, NUJ journalist and photographer.
  • Sudan: Rania Obaid, MENA Solidarity.
  • France: Rimaz Ahmed, MENA Solidarity.

Their contributions will help inform our discussions and strengthen our understanding of international struggles and the work needed to support them.

Reflecting on our work and planning ahead

Since our last AGM in October 2025, MENA Solidarity has continued its work through campaigns, publications, public meetings and solidarity initiatives. Our work brings together trade unionists, grassroots movements and campaigners who oppose war, genocide, repression, racism, imperialism and exploitation.

The AGM will include a report on our activities in 2025–2026, discussion of our campaigns and solidarity work, and plans and priorities for 2026–2027. We also want to hear from affiliated organisations and supporters about the work we should prioritise and how we can strengthen our collective efforts.

International solidarity cannot be built through statements alone. It requires sustained organisation, shared learning and practical action. Our AGM is an opportunity to strengthen those connections and plan the work ahead.
