The international movement against war is building for a series of days of action this autumn, bringing together trade unionists, anti-war campaigners, students and solidarity movements across borders.
The actions follow the International Conference Against War, organised by the Stop the War Coalition and held in London on 20 June 2026. The conference brought together activists and trade unionists from across Europe and beyond and adopted a statement calling for international mobilisation against war, militarisation and conscription, and for Welfare Not Warfare.
As MENA Solidarity reported ahead of the conference, governments are increasing military spending while public services face cuts, wages remain under pressure and working people are expected to pay for wars they did not choose. The answer must be international solidarity and collective resistance.
10 October: International Day of Action for Palestine
On Saturday 10 October, demonstrations will take place internationally in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
In London, the national demonstration will assemble at Victoria Embankment at noon before marching to Whitehall. The action is part of a wider international mobilisation for Palestine.
The struggle for Palestinian freedom is inseparable from the wider fight against war, occupation, militarisation and imperialism. Trade unionists and solidarity movements have an important role to play in building international action and challenging the use of public resources to support war.

30 October: Dockworkers Against War
On 30 October, dockworkers and port workers will hold an international day of action against war and militarisation.
Workers across ports in Europe and the Mediterranean are calling for ports not to be used to transport weapons, ammunition, military equipment or troops destined for war zones. Dockworkers in Greece, Italy, France and elsewhere have already shown that workers can use their collective power to challenge the war economy and refuse to facilitate the transport of weapons for war.
The action also connects opposition to militarisation with the fight for decent wages, secure employment, safer working conditions and workers’ rights.
This is Welfare Not Warfare in action: workers standing together across borders to oppose war and demand that resources are used to meet human needs, not fuel militarisation.

20–22 November: Against Militarism and Conscription
The autumn programme will culminate in international action against militarisation and conscription.
Friday 20 November will see an international youth strike and protests against conscription, followed by a global weekend of action on 21–22 November against militarism and conscription.
The International Conference Against War statement makes the choice clear: no to rearmament and conscription, yes to well-funded health, education and public services, decent jobs and higher wages.

Welfare Not Warfare
These actions are connected by a simple principle: our resources should meet human needs, not fuel war.
Money spent on weapons and military expansion is money that should be invested in health, education, housing, public services and decent jobs. The drive towards militarisation also fuels racism, nationalism and fascism, which are on the rise, while working people across borders are pitted against each other as enemies instead of standing together in solidarity.
We need a different internationalism. One based on solidarity between workers and peoples across borders.
MENA Solidarity supports the call to build the movement for Welfare Not Warfare and encourages trade unionists, students, activists and solidarity organisations to participate in the autumn days of action.
